“Looking for Eric”, sounds good, a new Ken Loach movie, I’ll go see it. That’s what I thought a good few months ago, when I heard it was gonna be in Cannes to my big surprise, Eric Cantonna was starring in it.
I went to see it, and found it amazing!
Ididn’t think Cantonna and Ken Loach would make a good mix but tey really do and you even get that rea Ken Loach feeling in the movie. The british social film (a genre I adore) is there and there are some feeling you don’t get in other Ken Loach movies. It wasn’t as social as Poor Cow or Sweet Sixteen but foused a lot on the bond between Eric and everyone around him.
I loved the family team work, and the testimony it was about football in Manchester. It is an important thing there, much more than anyone can really imagine. Like in the movie, it keeps some people going.
The only thing I regret, is that no football players would have Cantonna’s sort of class anymore, just take a look at Wayne Rooney for example…;)
